WELCOME TO THE COLORADO PEACE OFFICERS’
FOUNDATION
The Foundation,
was setup and structured by the Colorado Law Enforcement
Officers’ Association membership on March 30, 1974 during the
Association’s 54th Annual Informative Conference, benefits not
only Association members, but law enforcement officers
throughout the state of Colorado. It is a separate non-profit
corporation and is structured to promote the welfare of police
officers within the state who are engaged in fulltime law
enforcement law enforcement work. Its original funding was
taken from the general fund of the Colorado Law Enforcement
Officers’ Association and is now maintained by interest and
donations. The basic objective of the Foundation is to assist
financially the widows and children of deceased law
enforcement officers. The Foundation is registered with the
state of Colorado and has its own By-Laws. Its is governed by
the Officers of the Colorado Law enforcement Officers’
Association and meetings are held in conjunction with that
Association.
MARJORIE CHILDS-RUSSELL
SCHOLARSHIP
In 1999, upon the death of
Marjorie Childs-Russell, family members donated her real
estate to the Colorado Peace Officers’ Foundation. The real
estate was subsequently sold, and the money was placed into a
scholarship fund; thus the name of the scholarship Marjorie
Childs-Russell. The scholarships are utilized to assist law
enforcement officers who wish to continue their education but
do not have adequate funds. Eight five
hundred dollar ($5,00.00) scholarships are awarded each
year to individuals who are either full-time or part-time
peace officers.
